Rahul Gandhi: The Unintentional Comedian of Indian Politics

Rahul Gandhi: The Unintentional Comedian of Indian Politics

March 21, 2024 0

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party’s golden boy and self-proclaimed messiah of the people, has yet again graced us with his profound wisdom. In his latest address, Gandhi spoke about ‘Shakti’ in Hinduism. The devout Shiv bhakt probably didn’t know that Shakti in Hinduism is Nari and the power of women. While his intentions may have been noble, let’s not forget that he is not a political leader by choice, but by the burden of dynastic politics and his mother’s insistence.

I have personally spent a lot of time with the congress leadership, working on the 2014 election campaign and have observed at short distance. The challenge with Rahul Gandhi is not that he is stupid, I found him to be reasonably intelligent. The challenge is that he is not a mass leader. You put him in a room with 5 people and he will sound intelligible, however he can’t talk to a large audience without gaffes and gaping holes.

It is no secret that Rahul Gandhi’s political career has been as successful as Donald Trump’s efforts to keep his hair in place during a windy day. He may have inherited his family name, but unfortunately, political acumen and mass appeal cannot be inherited like a vintage car collection. After all, mass appeal is overrated and not everyone can be a Modi, right?

Modi / BJP knows it the best. All that the BJP needs to do is to convince half of the country that Modi is their guy and the rest half that there is no other guy. Rahul at this time is certainly not seeming like the guy.

The shame in all this is that the Gandhi family’s age-old mantra has been to champion cause of women empowerment. So when Rahul Gandhi speaks about Nari Shakti, one would expect him to be well-informed about the power of women, right? Well, I hate to break it to you, but it seems like Gandhi was just trying to score political brownie points without any real understanding of the term.

But let’s not be too harsh on Rahul Gandhi, after all, he has a track record of making strategic blunders. Remember the 2014 elections? Going to SRCC and talking about ‘poverty is a state of the mind’ and going to bawana village and talking about ‘Jupiter velocity’. Talk about shooting oneself in the foot! Looks like history is repeating itself as Gandhi once again gives BJP the perfect opportunity to convince the public that there is no credible alternative to their rule.

In conclusion, I would like to thank Rahul Gandhi for consistently providing us with entertainment and material for memes. Let’s just hope that someday he realizes that being a political leader is not a birthright and requires more than just a famous surname. Until then, let’s sit back, relax, and enjoy the ‘Nari Shakti’ show starring Rahul.
